Forward progress has been stopped on a wildfire that has destroyed homes in the small mining town of Bagdad, Arizona, and send hundreds fleeing.

Thirteen homes, 10 outhouses (like sheds) and one vehicle were burned by the Spur Fire as of Friday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

"It’s one of the worst, yes," said Tiffany Davila, a spokeswoman for the state forestry agency, when asked about the damage compared to past wildfires.

The Spur Fire has scorched about 150 acres, revised from 200 acres that fire crews estimated earlier in the day. As of Friday morning, Arizona State Forestry says about 25% of the fire has been contained.

About three or four different parts of the wildfire ripped through the community. But the Bagdad Fire and Rescue Department stopped the fire from spreading around 9 p.m.
